From the content, students must choose 1 of the 3 text options provided to them. No images are allowed however, students are permitted to use minor graphical elements (in reference to lines, shading etc.) Students are still constricted to the 10 typefaces outlined by the lecturer.
Task III: Type-Design and Communication
Type-Design and Communication: In this upcoming Exploration, the goal of the students in the cohort is to be able to design their own typefaces, expressed by using the letters, “__.” From this content, students should have learnt how to create a legible & readable typeface - referencing the designing process. Students are to start this task by researching existing typefaces which are to be analysed and deconstructed as reference material.

FINAL REFLECTIONS:
Experience: Personally, I've been aware of the concept of 'Typography' for the better half of around three years when a prior school began teaching it as a workshop-turned-elective. In general, I've always been interested in the many forms "Design the Concept" appears in; including text. Since then, I've been fascinated by the topic and have always been appreciative of Typography - considering it is one of the most important inventions ever conceived by man. My experience with it now is Taylor's has been something 'unique' to say the least as the module itself offered some challenges I really enjoyed learning to solve but; it also offered some strange requirements and reasonings which just felt were not necessary. Regardless, it is because of this module that I am able to say I've been able to change both academically & personally. I've been prepared for heavier workloads than this but this one has made more comfortable with the concept of constant workshopping and backtracking to produce the best product possible. Additionally, I was quite grateful for the fact that this module was 'individual assignment-based' which was valuable as I didn't need to rely on someone-else to help me succeed.
Overall, I can say that I am quite happy with how all my projects came-out and was very thankful for all the help provided to me by both Mr. Vinod (In the form of his videos) & Ms. Hsin Low (in the form of her practical teachings.) I am thankful that I've completed this module and look forward to my future projects in the next semester.
Observations: These past 14 weeks, I've noticed my increase focus on text that I see all around me in my day-to-day life - looking at all of their characteristics and nuances. Like some form of the 'Baader-Meinhof phenomenon' enhanced by the module. Nonetheless, it has caused me to reflect on how prevalent Typography is in the real world and how much consideration is needed for it to fulfil its purpose - whether that is to promote a business or guide individuals around. Sometimes, I find it fun to look at passing text and consider the design that went into making it & theorising how I may have done it myself. Finally, when looking in the classrooms; I liked seeing others' work from time-to-time as it is a testament to the fact that everyone will produce their own designs when faced with a problem - we're able to see how they interpret things.
